Points to Pennies by PaintedCricket Points to Pennies by PaintedCricket
You purchase points at a rate of 80:points: per $1USD. However, when using the Premium Content and Commissions Widget, dA takes a 20% cut, so you charge (or pay) 100:points: and the artist withdraws that as $1. Less confusing that way is the only upside to this 20% cut.

:iconpoint2penny1::iconpoint2penny2:

Write : iconpoint2penny1 :: iconpoint2penny2 : without the spaces.

Remember it's :icon: and not :dev:.

If it doesn't line up, the browser loaded the icons at different times. Sorry.

Yep. I think they assume everyone's going to cash it. And then they're trying to force out the old way, additionally, bu making using both between the same people walking on mines =B

Asia isn't a currency XD Which one? Depending on the currency and country, it could be worth more. I'd have to convert the currency, check out stuff that can be bought with it, to compare.

With 1 USD$, you'd get 7.76 HKD$. From Yahoo Answers, a McDonalds' icecream would cost 5 HKD$, and really cheap clothes 10 - 15 HKD$. And then there's this one ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/... .

That may be one way to look at it. However, I find a 20% commission is still far TOO MUCH for TOO LITTLE service.

Making a quite widget for commissions is in no way worth 20% of the profit on the commission.

Artists charging 20:points: for a large commission only makes it worse.

A dollar earned, yes.

You actually buy them at 80:points: to a dollar, but when using the Premium Content Platform and Commissions Widget, which can convert the points to real money, the artist gains $1 for every 100 charged, since dA takes a 20% cut ^^ A lot simpler that way, eh?

(When you use points to directly buy from dA's shop, it's closer to the 80:points: per dollar, but rounded out.)

20%
You buy points 80 for $1, but they since they take 20% from the pay (Commissions Widget and Premium Content only, not trade). It's a good idea to charge 100:points:, so that you get 80:points: (a full dollar's worth), rather than 64:points:, which is $0.80. I stated 100:points: for a dollar cause of that 20% cut. I said that twice if not thrice, not XD Just trying to make it crystal clear.

So it's what you call it. Now that makes more sense XD In PR, we call them centavos or chavitos, so it's closer to American English than the rest of the world. Funny, considering the terms and spellings we use are usually closer to the rest of the world than out neighbors.
